Unfortunately, Guest Conductor Col. Timothy W. Foley, retired Director of "The President's Own" Marine Band, was called away from the festival due to a family emergency. The festival will continue as scheduled, however! Come join us for our daily masterclasses and concerts on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! The Bay Area Summer Music Festival (Bay City, MI) serves as a musical outlet and performance opportunity while promoting the area arts and cultural community. It is comprised of local advanced high school students (whose school programs will be benefited by donations taken at the performances) as well as college level musicians and professionals. The concept is for students to sit and perform next to their teachers and give the experienced instrumentalists an opportunity to lead sectionals, masterclasses, etc. In addition to the large ensembles (wind ensemble, orchestra, and jazz band), a chamber music aspect is incorporated, allowing those interested to participate in smaller groups. There is NO fee to participate, but donations to allow us to continue to operate are welcome. Dates: Performance/Rehearsal Locations: - Garber High School - 213 Pine St, Essexville, MI
- Pilgrim Lutheran Church - 1705 Nebobish, Essexville, MI
Accomodation: For those interested in joining us from out of the area, LIMITED home stays may be possible. Meals are still on your own, but if you are interested, please contact us and we will do everything we can to allow you to participate! Contact information: Jeffrey A. Spenner, Music Director -
